Class Descriptions
Jazz:
An exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, and passion. Jazz classes explore body isolations, terminology, turns, kicks, leaps, and proper Jazz technique, that's taught to fun, upbeat music which ranges from pop to show tunes.
Tap:
Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology, highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet.
Hip Hop:
A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.
Acrobatics:
A style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics. Dancers gain tremendous strength and flexibility in Acro, and learn how to do tumbling tricks from cartwheels to back tucks and more.
Ballet & Pointe:
The classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in all classes. Ballet classes are mandatory for competitive dancers.
Lyrical:
A fusion of ballet and jazz, with expressive motions that tell a story. Dancers will learn lyrical technique along with how to express emotion through movement.
Contemporary:
A style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation and focuses on helping dancers reach new heights in their creativity and style.
Body Placement:
Dancers work on supplementing their ballet training with body placement classes, which focus on technique, jumps, kicks, turns, and leaps as well as stretching and strengthening. Body Placement classes are mandatory for competitive dancers.
Storytime & Dance:
A fun class for preschoolers incorporating Ballet & Jazz movement and the reading of a story book each week. This is a great introduction to Ballet & Jazz for our youngest students.

Center Stage dancers will learn new choreography through the year and have the choice of performing in our annual end of the year dance recital held at a local high school auditorium. We offer recreational classes that will help each individual learn the basics needed to grow as a dancer. As each dancer matures, we offer Prep Team classes that give them their first chance to perform on stage at a local dance competition. For dancers ages 5-18 with dance experience, we offer an extensive competition Company program for dancers to travel to competitions throughout the year.
